Department of Environmental Conservation

Amanda Lefton brings extensive public and private sector experience to her current role as Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

Lefton previously served as Director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), where she led the development of a federal offshore wind program that created jobs and responsibly managed offshore energy resources.

Before that, she was New York’s First Assistant Secretary for Energy and Environment, overseeing climate and environmental initiatives and agencies including the DEC.
